Bit late this month on the update front, but as it draws to an end, we have plenty of good news coming.
Cheaper postage & live shipping rates at checkout
After a solid month and a bit of testing, we've launched our live shipping rates and expanded our list of couriers available. This should mean overall you're paying less on shipping to anywhere in Australia. Certain areas, when buying in bulk, such as by the carton, get extremely cheap. TNT/FedEx overnight express is now active too for those who need filament next day. For certain locations, FedEx/TNT is actually the most cost-effective way to send a carton of filament. If you get an abnormally high quote you don't think is right, please do reach out. We've only managed to test 87 post suburbs across Australia so far, and you never know when a bug might sneak in.
New filament when?
We've been a bit slow at releasing new filament as we've wanted to take time to do more testing and implement changes. New filament coming late August/September includes a huge range of silk. More colors in PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA & TPU.
There are some new types of filament we can't reveal yet that are in testing, but we can safely say have not been sold in Australia yet, or if they have been, not at these prices we will target.
We are at the Bendigo Sunday market every weekend
We are pleased to announce we have a permanent spot secured at the Bendigo Sunday market. This location is available for pickup when you select EFTPOS at Bendigo Showgrounds on the checkout. We're going to be continuing to run demos & giveaway prints to children. It's also a great opportunity to talk to myself and the team about anything 3D printer-related. We've met and talked to so many lovely people so far at the markets, and we really appreciate everyone that's stopped by to have a chat.
When will you be stocking resin?
Yes, the rumors are true, or you've heard it from myself or the team in person. We are currently testing and evaluating resin for SLA printers with the plan to stock everything from basic, standard, ABS-like to engineering grade & exotic such as dual color. Every bottle we sell will strive for top quality and will be backed by our robust quality guarantee & warranty process. We don't plan to ever sell garbage and will only be selling what we use internally with our large resin print farm.
We will be in contact with a few customers that have volunteered to partake in testing so we can have as much done as possible for release. Full lab-tested data sheets will be provided as standard.
Website updates
As already mentioned, new live rates & shipping options have been released. A new layout is coming out the first week of August to the storefront to make it easier and require fewer clicks to navigate or find important information.
We are currently bug testing a new system for pickups, which will let you book a date & time slot for collection, including the option for straight click and collect without any interaction with us. We understand that sometimes you don't feel like a chat or have anxiety.
Filament production & our warehouse
Next year, we will start production locally here in Bendigo of filament. We're in the process of looking at options & spaces currently with the hope of having it sorted in the next few months.
We're exploring the possibility of recycling filament, but with certain challenges, we can't give a definitive answer yet. We will, however, be taking back and recycling spools of any type.
We will have a dedicated bin at our new space for dropping off recycled spools & will be partnering with a few other spaces as collection points here in Victoria & other states potentially. We're exploring ideas on a way to credit customers for the spools too.
